Welcome

2022 Virtual Preconference

Media and Communication in Global Latinidades

Preconference Date and Time: May 25th, 2022, TBD

Submission Deadline: January 24, 2022, 23:59 GMT

This preconference aims to examine the production, distribution, and consumption of media and communication in global Latinidades. For this fourth edition, and in alignment with ICA’s call to reimagine communication scholarship on globalization and networks, we have further broadened the scope of our preconference to include media and communication practices of the Latinx and Latin American experience globally. Thus allowing us to create a platform able to showcase the richness of a wider variety of relevant research about experiences of Latinidades around the globe.

This year’s preconference is being supported / co-sponsored by multiple divisions such as the Communication & Technology Division, the Ethnicity & Race in Communication Division, the Global Communication and Social Change Division, the Intercultural Communication Division, the Journalism Studies Division, the Political Communication Division, the Popular Media Division, and the Public Relations Division. We hope that this event will continue the path started by the first Digital Journalism in Latin America preconference at ICA 2019, the second Digital Media in Latin America preconference at ICA 2020, and the third Digital Media in Latinx and Latin America preconference at ICA 2021 and solidify the foundation to institutionally expand the global footprint of ICA.
